Scott Nevers enters his third season as Head Men’s and Women’s Golf Coach at Southern Maine Community College.

In his first two seasons at the helm, Nevers has led the men’s program to back-to-back Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) Championships and consecutive United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) National Tournament appearances. Following a YSCC Championship and YSCC Coach of the Year honors in 2024, the Seawolves reached new heights in 2025 by capturing the program's first USCAA National Championship. The team recorded nine tournament victories during the championship season, while Nevers was named both YSCC Coach of the Year and USCAA Coach of the Year. He was also recognized with the SMCC John Dakin Award for outstanding service to the College.

The women’s team has also enjoyed continued success under Nevers' leadership, earning consecutive USCAA National Invitational appearances in 2024 and 2025. The 2024 season included multiple Player of the Week awards, and three individual first-place finishes by Charlotte Blanchard. In 2025, the Seawolves recorded four team victories, while Grace Thompson captured two individual titles and was crowned the USCAA Individual National Champion. Thompson also earned Seawolves Athletic Club Rookie of the Year honors, while Charlotte Blanchard was recognized as a USCAA Academic All-American.

Prior to SMCC, Nevers held the role of Head Golf Coach at Gorham High School from 2017-2023. During his seven-year tenure, the program qualified for the State Championship event six times. Nevers left Gorham with a record of 46-22 and achieved multiple top-five team finishes in both the boys' and girls' championship circuits, including coaching an individual state champion in 2017.

Nevers attended Gorham High School, where he excelled as a four-year member of the varsity golf program. He continued his playing career at UMass Lowell (NCAA Division II) before earning his bachelor's degree in Business Administration from the University of Southern Maine in 2009.

A member at Val Halla Golf Club, Nevers sports a 2 handicap and competes in tournaments throughout the state, including the Maine Amateur and Mid-Amateur.

In addition to his duties with SMCC, Nevers owns and operates Nevers Medical Group, a small business specializing in portable defibrillators. He resides in Scarborough.
